The article Design and characterization of a compact magnetic shield for ultracold atomic gas experiments, by Farolfi et al., Review of Scientific Instruments 90, 115114 (2019), has been selected by AIP Scilight.

The Prize Committee of the BEC Awards 2019, sponsored by TOPTICA Photonics AG, has awarded the
senior BEC Award
to Lev Pitaevskii and Sandro Stringari for the key role they have played, with both their individual works and their collaborative ones, on our understanding of Bose-Einstein condensates and Fermi gases. Their theoretical contributions have been essential for guiding a wide range of experimental investigations in this domain.
