HOW TO REACH TRENTO

By plane  By Plane

There is no airport in Trento, so if you come by plane, you should fly either to Verona (90 Km from Trento) or Venice (160 Km). The airports in Milan , Innsbruck or perhaps also Munich are other sensible options.
From Verona Catullo Airport it takes about 10 minutes by bus to reach the train station Verona Porta Nuova. There is a bus approximately every 20 minutes. From Verona to Trento it takes about 1 hour and there are more than 20 trains per day. If you rent a car at the airport, you can drive to Trento along the Autostrada (highway) A22, arriving in less than an hour.
From Venezia Marco Polo Airport there are buses to the train station Venezia-Mestre. From Mestre to Trento it takes from 2h 15m to 3h, depending on the type of trains (either via Verona or via Valsugana) and there are approximately 20 trains per day.
At the Milano Malpensa Airport there is a bus every 30 minutes to Milano Centrale. It takes about 45 minutes, and then about 3 hours by train to Trento.

By train  By train

Trento is one of the main stations along the south-north connection from Verona to Innsbruck and Munich. See the official web sites of FS-Trenitalia or Deutsche Bahn . If the train you are going to travel with is an IC (Intercity) or EC (Eurocity) an extra-charge, called "supplemento rapido", is due in addition to the price of the ticket. For ES (Eurostar) trains you must also reserve a place in advance.

By car  By car

Traveling by car you might find convenient to drive through highway A22 ("Autostrada del Brennero"). This is the highway from Modena to Brennero. The two exits Trento Centro and Trento Nord are both OK. A toll is due on the Autostrada. Just outside the highway follow the indications for "Trento centro".

In town  Once you're in town

The conference site and all hotels, except Hotel Adige, are in Trento downtown. If you have a car, just park it at your hotel. Then walk or use public buses. The town has an efficient urban travel system run by Trentino Trasporti. If you visit the Trentino Trasporti office at the main railway station, you can pick up a free timetable "Guida ai trasporti del Trentino". Bus tickets cost 0.80 euro each and can be bought at the railway station or at any "Tabacchi" or newspaper shops. Taxis can be hailed from anywhere in town or booked through the phone (+39 0461 930002).
