Program:
Theoretical methods to describe the formation and dissociation of
molecules in dilute quantum gases
Topics to be covered:
- Coupled Bose-Einstein condensates of atoms and molecules
- Breakdown of the mean-field theory at the Gross- Pitaevskii level
- Theory of Feshbach resonances for two particles
- Microscopic parameters: the scattering length, the effective
range, and the binding energy of the highest lying bound state
- Application to real atomic systems: Rubidium-85 and Potassium-40
- Simple microscopic models for describing resonance scattering;
scattering from delta-function potentials
- Example application to dilute Fermi systems; Resonance
Superfluidity
- Example application to dilute Boson systems; Ramsey-fringes and
Bosenova.
