Fifth Workshop on

The Physics of Quantum Fluid Clusters

ECT*, Trento, 16-21 September 2002

Purpose

The experiments done in the last decade on Helium droplets are stimulating a great interest in the study of superfluid phenomena in these mesoscopic quantum fluid systems. The main purpose of the workshop is to bring together experimentalists and theorists working with quantum fluid clusters and, more generally, with superfluidity in finite systems. This workshop is the next in a series of meetings which started in Trento in 1989 and continued at Ringberg Schloss, Bavaria, in 1994, 1997 and 2000.

Main topics

  • Structure and elementary excitations of quantum fluid clusters
  • Spectroscopy of embedded atoms and molecules
  • Scattering from and within quantum fluid clusters
  • Quasi-1D quantum fluids

Program

The program is available. You may also download the booklet of abstracts (postscript file, 300 Kb).

Participants

A list of participants is available.

Location

The workshop is hosted by the European Centre for Theoretical Studies in Nuclear Physics and Related Areas (ECT*), at Villa Tambosi (see picture above), not far from the Physics Department of the University of Trento. The web site of ECT* contains information about how to reach Trento and Villa Tambosi.
